Have you ever sat in a car next to a driver with a GPS in his hand and still chose to take a “shortcut” because he knows better than the GPS? And after standing half an hour in traffic because there was construction on that street and he could not make a U-turn he sees his error? I did.
Just like that, not everyone will trust the direction the Bible is pointing us. Some people say that the Bible is written by men and not by God; it is inaccurate and fallible. Others who believe in God are witnesses that Scripture is accurate and helpful if anyone follows its instructions.
The Bible is the GPS for marriages, and GPS stands for God’s Perfect Solution. God has a road plan. It doesn’t promise that there will be no red lights, no traffic, or holes in the street. However, if we follow God’s GPS constantly to our best abilities, we will arrive safely at marriage. Even when couples take a bad turn, God will be there to redirect the flow. The question is not if the GPS works. The question is more, do I think I know better than the GPS?
In the same way, do you know better than the Bible what God has planned? How do we live life to arrive where we want to be? Do God’s instructions sound silly, simplistic, or old-fashioned? How willing are you to follow God’s GPS?
Scriptures tell us in 2 Timothy 3: 16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the servant of God[a] may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
The Bible is not God, and God is not the Bible, but God is the God who created everything we see daily, men, animals, nature, and the Bible. God uses men to write His inspiring Words that reveal real-life issues: personal problems, family problems, and marital problems. God teaches us that He hates divorce and that couples can live in harmony without breaking their marriage vows.
The Bible speaks about communication, love, adultery, finances, childrearing, caring for one another, sexual life, home life, and faith. When put together, God knows more about all the topics we need to make our marriage a success. Trust the God of the process.
Each individual should make up their mind when it comes to the Bible. They could accept it or deny it. If they embrace the promises of God and put them into action, they will have a happy and everlasting marriage. The promises of God are essential for teaching couples God’s Perfect Solution in times of trouble.
